Hilliard, Ohio, a thriving suburb just 13 miles from downtown Columbus, offers a perfect blend of suburban comfort and urban accessibility.

Founded in 1852 by John Reed Hilliard, who purchased 10 acres of farmland in western Franklin County, the town was originally named Hilliard’s Station. It grew around the Piqua and Indiana Railroad station, becoming a crucial agricultural shipping point. Officially platted in 1853, Hilliard was incorporated as a village in 1869 with 280 residents. The town’s growth accelerated in the mid-20th century, centered around its railroad station and Main Street. Significant expansion occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, with new residential developments and connections to Columbus’s infrastructure.

Hilliard achieved city status in 1960 with a population of 5,633, and the completion of Interstate 270 in the early 1970s further spurred its development. As of the 2020 census, Hilliard’s population had grown to 37,114.
