Pickerington, Ohio, is a suburb of Ohio’s capital city, Columbus, and is situated within Fairfield and Franklin counties. It was founded in 1815 and originally named Jacksonville in honor of Andrew Jackson. However, the name was changed in 1827 to reflect the town’s founder, Abraham Pickering.
Pickerington would have to wait another 176 years before the Ohio Secretary of State officially declared it a city in 1991.
